Travel trends change just like seasons tend to change. Those who do not keep up are left behind. It is a phenomenon experienced especially in the Travel and Tourism Market. Experts were concerned about the jobs in the tourism sector because of the disastrous effect of COVID-19. But rather than being scared out of our minds, it’s important now more than ever to find the silver lining.
Hence came forth the travel trends of 2021, that focus on making the most of the new normal without leaving behind the precautions. Let’s dive in.
A drift in travel trends.
People saw a major shift in their work-life when they had no option but to stay out of office. They gave remote working a chance and to their surprise, loved it. Many resorts and hotels are now renovating their premises to make space for outside offices (ocean offices ranking the charts). Digital nomads who are laptop-bound can gather in an exquisite place and work from there. Isn’t that truly revolutionary?
Private Island For The Win
Many Hollywood celebrities and other famous personalities too to the private Island when the pandemic was in its full swing. Not only they were out of reach from COVID threats they could see themselves enjoying and living away from the public eye. The private Island takeover trend soon caught on with the masses and came amongst major travel trends. It is expensive but if you can afford it, by all means, give this one a try.
Flights To Nowhere
This sounds like something out of a thriller novel but it’s a really smart trend. During the peak of the pandemic when airlines had no choice but to ground their fleet. Around 16,000 planes were doing nothing, just sitting on the Tarmac. This birthed the idea for “pleasure Flights”. These flights had no destination, the whole idea was to go sightseeing, among the clouds. EVA Air and Qantas are welcoming interested passengers for such flights. We think this trend is here to stay for the long run.
Glamorous Road Trips
Did you know that in the past year, people have booked RVs 166% more than any other time in history? The travel restrictions have rendered people out of public spots and traveling in public transports. But that rule does not mean that they cannot take domestic holidays with their families using their private transport. There is a sense of freedom that comes with taking the wheels and making your way on the road. And the result is the RVs that are equipped with luxurious amenities and have excellent mileage and WiFi.
During World War II, the daily survivors found an escape from the war in Blitz Parties. Who knew this trend will see a comeback in the 21st Century?
Hedonistic Hideaways have become the hottest trend in UK, France, and Spain. People usually book an Airbnb and rent the place just to party with friends and family. The accommodations range from villas to quiet countryside cottages.
No Change Fees
All major airlines have come forward with their updated travel policies to tempt travelers to choose them. By bringing more flexibility in change plans whether it’s changing the flight or a hotel, the airlines are hoping to inculcate more confidence in the traveler’s heart. Fully flexible airfares make the entire process relaxing and convenient. Delta, American, and United Airlines have declared to give full freedom to change flights without any additional cost. We hope this trend does not go anywhere anytime soon.
Testing At Airport
With travel restrictions and mandatory COVID-19 test results, passengers felt a sense of added pressure on their shoulders. Many passengers had to rush back to get the testing done or cancel their plans altogether due to mandatory self-quarantine. Then came the solution. What if all the airports establish COVID testing facilities at the premises, thus eliminating the chance of infection? If the passenger tests negative before boarding, he can be sent back home, if not, then he can go ahead with his travel plans. This rapid testing has been a huge trend and is here to stay.
